Will I be an employee of Traveluxe?
If you join our team, you will be an independent contractor. Independent contractors, by definition, means– one that contracts to do work or perform a service for another and that retains total and free control over the means or methods used in doing the work or performing the service. This means you are not an employee.
As an IC you own and operate your own business from your own home office, on your own schedule. It’s completely up to you what hours and days you work. Of course, the more you dedicate yourself the more earning potential there is for you. You also will have to be available to clients while they are traveling, so it is important that if you have another full-time job that you can still help clients should an emergency arise while they are on vacation. Some of our agents use one another as backups for these times.
Is there Training?
Our Industry-leading training is a 2-month self-paced online program that will get you trained on all the top suppliers. During the 2 months, you will have one-on-one access to our in-house trainer who will facilitate your training and be there every step of the way to help you become a Master Agent.
This training program gives you all the tools you will need to become a successful agent.
You must complete this training in the initial 2 months to continue in our program.
What does it cost to start?
There is an initial startup and training fee of $350 and a renewal fee of $350 each year after. The $350 must be paid when you sign up. The $350 renewal fee is due January 15th of each calendar year. If you begin training October 1st-December 31st, the $350 for the next calendar year is waived.
Why is there a fee to join?
Traveluxe is not like other agencies. We have been in business since 2010 and have a proven track record of training and cultivating successful agents. There are agents on our team making an income of $250,000+ a year or more. This is due to our continued support and industry-leading training.
We are one of the few agencies that has a dedicated in-house trainer that you will work one-on-one with. Our entire team is trained and certified in over 1000 different destinations with the industry's top travel suppliers. We are so fortunate to have have an amazing network of agents who use their knowledge to not only help their clients, but also each other. We truly are a team.
We sell Disney, a lot of it! But, We Also Sell Luxury Travel.
There is so much more to selling travel than just booking a hotel and ticket package. You will learn it all with us. A family that goes to Disney this year will inevitably expand their travel horizons and want to go somewhere else next year or the year after that. You want to be their Travel Agent for life, so you need to be well versed in every destination. Most other travel agencies out there do not offer training in multiple destinations...we do.
A typical travel school tuition is on average $6,500 at your local community college. Our training program is only $350. For a tenth of the cost and time, we will set you up for success. You will finish our program with the skills needed to not only be a pro at the destinations you love but you will also be able to SELL those destinations. Selling and loving travel are two very different things.
We want you to be successful, so we make sure you have the tools to do that. 90% of the fee goes to the trainer and the rest covers your setup expenses listed below.
The startup fee includes:
A subscription to our CRM database for entering bookings, is required. Your monthly subscription ($25) is not included in the initial training and setup fee. This starts when you complete the training program and is paid directly to the CRM. This is a tax-deductible expense.
Residents of the state of Florida must apply for a Florida Seller of Travel license for $50 and renew this annually.
How will I be compensated?
This is a commission only sales opportunity. You must have a business mindset and be motivated to increase your sales and to make money.
Your commission is based on your level of traveled sales in the previous calendar year.
Most suppliers pay between 10% and 21% commission on the pre-tax booking amount and it is paid to the agency 30-60 days after travel. Independent Contractors are then paid their percentage of the gross commission based on current commission levels. Commissions are paid twice a month via direct deposit.
What is the average commission amount for a booking?
While each vacation is unique here are a few examples:
All-Inclusive Vacation package total $5,500
Commission amount of 15% $825
50% split for new agent $412.50
Europe Vacation $5,500
Commission amount of 13% $715
50% split for new agent $357.50
Sandals or Beaches Vacation Package $5,500
Commission amount of 18% $990
50% split for new agent $495
Luxury Disney Vacation $5,500
Commission amount of 10% pre-tax $450
50% split for new agent $225
If you just book these four similar packages each month, that's roughly $1,500 commission in your pocket. As you can see, there is a lot of money to be made in travel, if you put the effort into it.
If I join Traveluxe, what can I sell?
Traveluxe is a luxury focused agency, as the name suggests. However, we sell all destinations. For example, Disney Parks & Cruise, Universal Orlando, Sandals & Beaches Resorts, Secrets & Dreams All-Inclusive Resorts, Cruises, Europe, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Line, Virgin Voyages, and more. You will be able to book vacation packages, hotels, car rentals, and all major cruise lines through any supplier who will pay a travel agent commission.
Where will my clients come from?
As an Independent Contractor, you will be responsible for cultivating your own business, but we will certainly provide guidance and mentoring on ways to develop and close sales leads.
Traveluxe sends out weekly marketing newsletters that are branded to you, this helps generate new business for you and the cost is included in your setup and yearly fee.
Traveluxe will also give out cold leads that come directly to us via our website to agents who have experience and we feel will represent our brand well. We promise the clients they will receive service from a top-notch travel expert and our company has a reputation for fulfilling that promise. We take leads very seriously. Handling cold leads from the website is not a requirement nor is it an automatic benefit. Only qualified ICs with a proven record of client service are invited to participate in our leads program.
What will I need to conduct business from my home office?
Participation, Integrity, Trust, Respect, Patience, Honesty, Dedication, Common goals, Community Responsibility, Passion for Travel, Professional Work Ethic, Consistency, Generosity, Creativity, Very Detail Oriented, Flair for Sales, Enthusiasm for Service, and most of all...a Sense of Humor!

Growing up I always thought about being a travel agent but then with the world of technology I thought this job was being phased out....boy was I wrong! A couple of years ago not completely happy with my job I wanted more. I was obsessed with Disney and traveling there; plus I'm a wish fairy for Make A Wish and loved helping my wish kids navigate through the park gave me a rush. One of my mentors at Make A Wish became a travel agent with Traveluxe and I saw her post about it which inspired me to look into it. I contacted Meg and started my classes to begin the process. I was and I'm still constantly encouraged by Meg, my team leader and other coworkers. I have been with Traveluxe since 2020. I finished my training in March 2020. I was so nervous about how things would play out during and after COVID but I didn't need to worry. There was constant communication and learning opportunities so that we would be prepared when the world opened up again. I never felt alone or unheard. There has always been someone to reach out to for help or a question. I started with Traveluxe in 2019. I had several years of experience with a store front travel agency, so travel was not new to me. I decided that I wanted to return to travel since I was continually helping people out with their travel, with no rewards. I saw a few agencies advertise online and on Facebook that they were hiring. After looking at the different agencies, I decided that I wanted to apply with Traveluxe, as it seemed to be a good fit. And I was not wrong. This agency has been wonderful. It has been a far cry from the store front agency I worked for previously.
The women in this agency all cheer each other on, help each other with questions or problems, and even assist each other with clients while on our own vacations. I am not in the top tier of the agents, as I work part time, but not once have I ever been made to feel that I am not an integral part of this agency. I've asked questions of the owner, trainer, and team leaders without being made to feel like I was an idiot. The other ladies in the agency also answer questions without any judgement.
Traveluxe feels like a family. We are sisters, with one goal in mind...assisting our customers with the best customer service around. That's not easy to find in a large group of women, but we make it work at Traveluxe. I would not hesitate to recommend this agency to anyone interested in starting or restarting a travel career. The training is better than what I received when I first started out, all of the women (from top to bottom) care about each other.
